Pure grapefruit (Citrus Paradisi) essential oil is extracted from the pink grapefruit peel. One of its main components is limonene, which is found in all citrus fruits and gives them their unique smell. However, this oil should be handled with care as it can irritate the skin. The oil tends to oxidise, after opening the bottle its smell and therapeutic properties deteriorate after 6-12 months.

How to use grapefruit essential oil?
- Add a couple of drops to a diffuser or aroma lamp. Don’t overdo it. Even if it seems that scent is not strong enough, the oil will do its job.
- No more than 3% of this oil can be added to massage oils or other body care products Larger amounts may cause skin irritation.
- It is often not recommended to use grapefruit oil on the skin before sunbathing as it can lead to sunburn.
- In case you want to enjoy a scented bath, do not put the oil directly to the water. Mix it beforehand with bath salt, honey, liquid soap or foam. Essential oils do not dissolve in the water; therefore without mixing it first, the oil won’t work. Bathe for at least 10–15 minutes.
Which other oils go together well?
Grapefruit essential oil goes well with other citrus fruits, cloves, cypress, ginger, cardamom, coriander, lavender, pine, geranium, rosemary, palmarosa, neroli. Do not take internally.
