Mint (Mentha Viridis) essential oil scent resembles mint candy. Its aroma is a bit midler and sweeter than peppermint. Mint is valued due to its beneficial effects on the digestive and nervous systems. Refreshing scent is very popular in hygiene care products and is often associated with cleanliness.

Mint essential oil:

  • Is used to relieve muscle spasms;
  • Can help relieve mild headache;
  • Is recommended in case of digestive system disorders, to cure nausea. Can be used externally;
  • Can help to fight symptoms of cold or respiratory system disorders;
  • Has antibacterial properties and is often used to treat acne-prone skin.

It has a pleasant cooling effect, so making massage oil with mint essential oil will refresh your feet on hot summer days. This oil blend will help to keep your feet clean and as a preventive measure against foot skin problems.

How to use mint essential oil?

Do not apply it directly on your skin as it can cause irritation. Use by putting some in base oils, cosmetic products. Do not add it to oral care products to avoid irritating the mucous membranes or accidental swallowing.

Mint essential oil is recommended for vaporising both at home and in the workplace, as its pleasant and refreshing scent will lift your mood, help you focus and calm down. Add a couple of drops to the vaporiser, mix with other favourite essential oils if desired.

It can be used for inhalation to ease breathing. 1–2 drops will be enough or add drops according to the inhalation instruction.

For bath time, dilute mint essential oil with a drop of base oil or a pinch of salt.

Pure oil can irritate the skin even in large amounts of water, as it is difficult to dissolve in water and the droplets float the surface.

Add 3–6 drops to 30 or 50 ml of base oil for massage. Choose the number of drops according to the intensity of the scent and therapeutic effect you seek for.

Which oils to mix it with?

Mint scent matches various citrus fruit scents (lemon, orange, grapefruit, etc.) For massages, mix it with rosemary and lavender.

Essential oils are not medicine. Their effects are researched and, due to the EU's control of health claims, we cannot provide a full description of their properties.
